Following the successful hosting of the fifteenth annual BRICS Summit, South
Africa is set to host an Infrastructure Investment Symposium. The Symposium
takes place under the workstream of the BRICS Task Force on Public Private
Partnerships (PPP) and Infrastructure. The event is scheduled to take place
virtually on September 28 and 29, 2023 and is open to the public.
The gathering will bring together senior officials from BRICS governments
including members of the BRICS Task Force and infrastructure practitioners,
regulators, policy specialists and sponsors. Further, industry experts, academics,
senior representatives from Multilateral Development Banks and Development
Finance Institutions, amongst other stakeholders are invited to attend.
The Symposium aims to foster mutual exchange, knowledge sharing, and
collaborative discourse. The central focus of the event is to explore strategies that
promote the expedient development and delivery of public infrastructure
leveraging greater private sector participation and advancing the use of green,
transition and sustainable finance.
The Symposium will ultimately contribute towards the stimulation of
infrastructure investments which are at the core of human, social,
environmental, and economic development.
