PEOPLE’S PARK KIDDIES ZONE RE-OPENED
The People’s Park kiddies zone, located on the southern side of the Moses Mabhida Stadium, was re-opened today, 21 December.
The popular park, which features several sport and leisure amenities, was closed for refurbishment. It was also used as a COVID-19 vaccination site.
Chairperson of the Community Services Committee Councillor Zama Sokhabase said the park was closed to undergo much-needed upgrades. She said further upgrades are planned for the 2023/2024 financial year.
Councillor Sokhabase welcomed the park re-opening, saying it was a popular site with residents.
The park includes a children’s play area, picnic site, eventing space, café/restaurant, and a track.
Head of the Stadia and Facilities Unit Vusi Mazibuko said it is exciting that the People’s Park kiddies zone has been re-opened. “Repairs at the park have been completed and the public can now make their way to this breathtaking facility to enjoy,” said Mazibuko.
The public ia encouraged to visit the upgraded facility.
