ETHEKWINI PUBLIC NOTICE
14 DECEMBER 2022
RENEWAL OF EXPIRING MUVO CARDS
EThekwini Municipality advises all Durban Transport, Mynah, and People Mover bus commuters to check the expiry date on the front of their Muvo card.
Cards with the expiry date 12/22 will stop functioning from 1 January 2023. They can be replaced at a Muvo Paypoint or Smartvan at no cost until the end of January 2023. Thereafter, the normal card replacement fee of R20 applies.
EThekwini Transport Authority Head Thami Manyathi explains: “The cards are bank issued cards certified by Mastercard. In terms of the banking regulations, the cards have a limited life span of five years as the technology is continually updated to ensure that the security of the cards is not compromised.”
The expired card and an original ID document is required for the swop out.
